Bellevue Children’s Academy (BCA®), the parent School of Willows Preparatory School, was started as a tutoring center in 1992 (formerly called The After-School Learning Center) by Yuka Shimizu. BCA® opened as an elementary school in September 1999 with 9 students. By 2013 the school occupied three campuses in Bellevue, offering programs for Preschool to Grade 8, with an enrollment of 620 students. In early 2014, Bellevue Children’s Academy purchased the 15-acre site of Washington Cathedral Church, in nearby Redmond. BCA® relocated the middle school to the new site and was branded Willows Preparatory School.
The success and growth of Bellevue Children’s Academy is due in part to its rigorous curriculum and the commitment to each student’s unique ability and potential. Small classes are taught by dedicated teachers with degrees in their areas of expertise. They are joined with the support and encouragement of parents, and the School’s commitment to the well-being of the whole child. Similarly, WPS® is an academic institution that takes pride in an on-going commitment to the achievement and success of each of its students. It is a learning environment where students feel safe and accepted as they are guided to succeed and realize their potential.
Willows Preparatory School is an approved private school by the Washington State Board of Education.
